Orienting Toward Coherence: What You Focus On Grows
Jan 16, 2026Hello. For those of you I've met before, welcome back. And for those I've never met, I'm so happy you're here.
I want to talk today about coherence.
I've learned about coherence many times through different trainings in my journey to becoming a somatic practitioner. But the deepest coherence learning has been inside of myself—which is where all of our deepest learnings truly are.
About a year to two years ago, I attended a specific training where the entire five days focused on coherence work. What coherence work essentially is, in the simplest terms, is orienting to what is going well, what is organized, what is balanced, what is coherent—in the field of ourselves or our clients.
The Problem with Problem-Solving
So often in the pop culture healing world, personal growth, and personal development spaces, we orient toward what is challenging, what is the problem. Most of the time, people hire a coach because there's something they want to fix.
I remember multiple times people have told me: if you don't have a problem for other people to solve, you don't have a business.
There is a truth to that in the corporate world, and unfortunately that has also wormed its way into the mental health and healing world.
What Coherence Actually Is
Orienting toward coherence is actually orienting toward the antidote, toward the solution, toward what is organized, toward what is balanced.
Coherence is this frequency, this field that you can feel. You can feel it energetically—you can feel when something's going right, when something's balanced, when there's a flow between a group of people, between your own parts, or in your own home.
When we can come into a session or an experience or an opportunity and really orient toward what is organized here, what is balanced here, what is coherent here, we create even more coherence.
Because we all know this in different ways: what we focus on grows.
What we focus on grows. What we orient to, we create more of.
We know this in Kabbalah. We know this in quantum physics. We know this in somatics. We know this in parts work. We know this in so many different ways.
And when we can focus on coherence, we can create a more coherent world.
An Invitation to Check In
I'm inviting you, whoever's reading this, to check in with yourself and see: where are you already experiencing coherence?
In what relationship? In what aspects of your relationship with yourself? In what aspects of your business?
Where are you already experiencing coherence, and how can you focus on the coherence that already is today to create more of that—just by being with what already is balanced and organized and going right?
A Personal Example: Healing My Skin
I want to share one more thing with you.
A few weeks ago when I was in Florida, I used a face mask that I bought in the spa at the hotel, and the face mask made my skin break out really badly.
I thought to myself: I do coherence work with my clients all the time. If you are my client, you definitely know that. But I thought—what if I did coherence work with my skin?
As I was getting a facial (which I posted about—it was an amazing facial my friend Miriam recommended), inside of myself all I kept thinking about was the parts of my skin that were glowing, the parts of my skin that were beautiful.
As I was getting the facial, I just kept orienting toward the coherence that already is—toward all the things that go well for me, toward the love that I have for myself and others and my own body, toward the things that did feel balanced inside of myself, toward the organization that already existed.
And the coolest thing is: it's healing in a tremendous, tremendous way. Much faster than it would have, I truly believe this, if I would have focused on what was going wrong.
If I would have treated the problem, I would have stayed focused on the problem.
Even the esthetician was in alignment with my energetic state. She told me: "There's a barrier issue. It's not that your skin is breaking out—something, some kind of barrier got destroyed. What we need to use is actually non-activated products, not things that are going to activate your skin even more. Even though those activated things are here to help you, they're actually going to hurt you more."
She supported me with the products she gave me to orient toward coherence in health.
The Invitation
I'm sharing this all with you because I think it is extraordinarily important.
What is coherent for you already? And how can you orient toward even more coherence—just by being?
