Holding Faith and Grief Together
Dec 18, 2025Tonight, at candle lighting, Cathy Heller re-told the Chanukah Story to all the beautiful people around her table. I was thinking about how "in those days at this time" is so real right now. History repeating itself in real time.
Grieving and stewarding light and holding faith is not a contradiction. It's not mutually exclusive. It goes together - only always, never not. And one creates space for the other.
Am Yisrael Chai. The Jewish people live on.
And today, is another day of holding both for us all. What a devastating, heart wrenching day. What a day to be alive, to be the light we were designed to be. What a day to grieve.
As the Kotzker Rebbe said: there is nothing as whole as a broken heart.
I truly feel that holding our faith gives us the courage to feel what we feel inside. To hold faith is to allow all that we feel to rise and be felt, knowing that we are held by something greater. Holding faith allows our human parts more time to breathe, to Be with.
What light are you generating and creating today? An action, a prayer, maybe a loving energy sent or received 💔✨️🤍
Chanukah Sameach ✨️
