Do You Have Range

Sep 07, 2025

Someone on my last retreat who had been on a healing journey for close to 20 years said, "I didn't know I was allowed to laugh at breathwork." We were in our last session of the retreat—a breathwork session—and some of us were cracking up. She said, "I didn't know I was allowed to laugh."

I heard many statements like this throughout the retreat I hosted in the summer. So many people who have come on my retreats have shared that it was one of the most intense, in-depth experiences of their lives, and also some of the most fun, some of the most sensual, and some of the most alive—engaging all their five senses. Many people have thanked me and said, "Rivky, thank you for showing me how to weep and how to laugh in the same sentence."

To me, healing is not about taking things more seriously. Healing is not only about feeling our more challenging, repressed, or suppressed feelings. To me, healing is about expanding our capacity, expanding our range to be with more of life, to be with more of our aliveness, to be with more of our capacity to be present and also to shift states as needed—to allow the full spectrum of our emotions, the full spectrum of our aliveness, to move and sweep through our bodies, our fields, our conversations, our connections, so that we can feel and so that we can live all the way alive.

Also, it's just so much fun to have fun. So go have fun. And you can even, while you're having fun, tell yourself that you're practicing range and get some spiritual healing brownie points.

Thanks for being here, and if this is your reminder to go laugh a little bit today, that's what I wanted it to be.
